Frequently Asked Tanning Questions

WHAT IS MOBILE TANNING AND WHERE DO I TRAVEL?

The epitome of luxury and convenience! Get the star treatment by hiring your very own spray tan tech to come spray you in the comfort of your home or office. It is one of the most affordable ways to feel seriously special and luxurious!
-For individual tanning, I will travel the Tri-Cities and Southwest Virginia region up to 30 miles of my location for no charge. Appointments beyond 30 miles will be charged based on mileage.
-For Bridal Bundles and Spray Tan Parties, I will travel as needed and pricing varies. (More info on Bridal Bundles and Spray Tan Parties can be found on my website)

*****HOW DO I PREPARE FOR A TAN?*****

When getting an airbrush spray tan it is very important to prepare correctly to ensure flawless results. I can only guarantee my tans if you do your part to properly prep! It is helpful for first time clients to schedule at least three days in advance and make a checklist of things to do before your appointment. Once you do the process one time, you will be a pro!
-EXFOLIATION: Since DHA only affects the top layers of skin, exfoliating will make sure that a fresh new layer of skin will be available to become tan. Make sure you exfoliate very well the night before your appointment, DO NOT exfoliate the day of your appointment because it will take away too much skin and your tan will not last as long. Pay special attention to areas that are more dry such as knees, elbows, ankles, and knuckles. Using an exfoliation mitt and sugar scrub are your best choice for the exfoliation process. Make exfoliation the LAST step of your shower so that all products are thoroughly removed from the skin.

-SHAVING AND WAXING: this should be done the day before your appointment. Do not shave or wax the day of your appointment. Since waxing and shaving are a type of exfoliation, doing so after a tanning session will shorten the life of the tan, so get it done ahead of time. Doing so the day of your tan will negatively effect the application.

-CLEAN AND DRIED SKIN: make sure not to apply any lotions, oils, deodorants, perfume, makeup or anything that will create a barrier between your skin and the tanning solution. This is very important to ensure that the DHA can fully absorb into the skin. If you must wear products on your skin the day of your appointment, you need to thoroughly cleanse with a good soap before I arrive. (not Dove or Curel) If you don't cleanse properly, your tan will not apply properly and will not last as long as it should.
-HYDRATE AND MOISTURIZE: DRINK YOUR WATER! Hydrated skin takes on the tan so much better than dry, dull skin does. Your tan will look better and last longer if your skin is healthy! Start moisturizing one, two, or more times a day for the same reason.

-OTHER SPA TREATMENTS: make sure you schedule any hair, nails, facials, massages, or other beauty treatments at least 24-48 hours before getting your spray tan.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING THE TANNING PROCESS?

First Relax, spray tanning is quick and easy and within no time you will be beautifully bronzed. Appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes but often take less time than that from set up to break down. Before your first tan, we will do a full consultation so we can make sure to address all of your needs and concerns. We will decide the perfect place to set up my pop up tent; ideally I need at least a 5x5 space with good lighting and access to a power outlet. It can be basically anywhere; the bathroom, kitchen, living room, bedroom, or garage.

Ladies can wear whatever they are most comfortable in, most clients prefer to have no tan lines on their upper body and opt for just wearing a thong bottom. If you prefer no tan lines, nude is the way to go. I prefer male clients wear a cover-up of your choice (thong, briefs, etc). Don't worry, my solutions will not stain cotton clothing.
Make sure to remove all jewelry.

The tanning process usually takes around 10 minutes and a drying time of about 5 minutes. However the longer you dry the better. When getting dressed make sure to have dark colored clothing preferably a robe, baggy t-shirt, or sun dress. Skip the bra and panties and socks! This is one major perk of having a mobile service come to you; you can wear safe and comfy clothes and not worry about disrupting your tan on the way home.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER A TANNING SESSION?

After your tanning session make sure to stay completely dry for 8 hours (2-5 for Quickie) so the DHA has ample time to develop, any contact with water to your skin will cause streaking and the tan will not develop properly. For best results most clients prefer to sleep overnight before taking a shower. I prefer to call it a "rinse" instead of a shower because you do not actually shower. Just stand under lukewarm water and do NOT use soap. The bronzer will rinse off and your tan will be revealed. PAT DRY when you get out, DO NOT scrub your skin with the towel. After that first rinse, you will be able to use gentle soap in future showers but you want to avoid shaving as long as possible and do not use any exfoliants. For the duration of your tan avoid soaking in water including pools and hot tubs. Also make sure to stay moisturized by applying a tan safe lotion or cream twice daily. (I have some amazing ones for sale on my website, but honestly, just stay moisturized!)

And remember taking care of yourself and your skin on a daily basis will do wonders for your tan. Make sure to drink plenty of water, refrain from excessive work out, and take all of your vitamins. Your tan will last for 7-10 days on average.
HOW DOES AIRBRUSH TANNING WORK?

The active ingredient in sunless tanning solutions is dihydroxyacetone (DHA),  a sugar derivative that reacts with the amino acids in the outermost "dead" layer of your skin affecting the natural pigmentation. Although DHA is clear and takes time to develop (8 hours for most, 2-5 hours for rapid), my solutions also include a bronzer which provides instant color for the client and washes away after the first rinse. As DHA develops the client should notice a tan about twice as dark that will last up to 10 days.

WHAT TANNING SOLUTION DO I USE?

At Hunni Dip Sunless, I only use Sjolie sunless tanning solutions. Sjolie is one of the best selling sunless tanning products in the tanning industry, and is ranked very highly in customer satisfaction. Sjolie solutions contain no harmful chemicals and are 100% organic, vegan, and PETA approved. Most of the solutions I work with are aloe-based which results in a flawless, light weight, moisture-packed tan. My rapid solutions are alcohol based which are more high maintenance and I typically do not recommend rapid tan solutions for first time spray tan clients.

IF I AM DARK SKINNED OR ALREADY HAVE A NATURAL TAN HOW WILL GETTING AN AIRBRUSH TAN BENEFIT ME?

Regardless of your race or skin tone, airbrush tanning is the absolute best way to cover stretch marks, even out skin tone, and cover all those lovely imperfections such as cellulite, sun spots, and discoloration. If it has ever crossed your mind how celebrities always seem to be glowing and appear to be flawless....it's airbrushing/spray tanning. Now you can have the same treatment and get that glowing, flawless look you have always desired.

WHAT IF I HAVE A SKIN CONDITION?

I am trained and skilled at recognizing most common skin conditions and am able to provide a custom tan tailored to your specific needs. We will discuss your concerns prior to your appointment and work together to figure out a solution that works for you and leaves you with the perfect, flawless tan. As a skilled technician, I am able to make your skin appear more clear and cover up most imperfections. While my solutions are natural and healthy, ask your dermatologist if there is anything you should know about how your skin or medications may be affected by spray tanning.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN AIRBRUSH TAN AND A BOOTH SPRAY TAN?

The sunless tanning industry is at an all time high and the two main choices for consumers tend to be airbrush tanning and using a spray booth. Both choices offer full body tanning but they are by no means created equally, nor do they give the same results. Booth spray tans involve no customization because the there is an even distribution of solution usually occurring over an uneven canvas.  Meaning if you already have an uneven base tan, are not the ideal body shape, have freckles or sunspots, or skin condition such as eczema or psoriasis, you are most likely left with and uneven blotchy tan. No two bodies are the same, so no two tans should be the same either. With an airbrush tan from HunnDip Sunless Tanning,  you are always guaranteed a custom flawless looking tan. Prior to every tanning session, I will complete a consultation assuring that you receive your perfect tan.

Frequently Asked Tooth Bling Questions
IYKYK! You need some jewelry for your teeth, girl!
-First and foremost, I am not a dental professional and this is not a dental procedure.
-I do not offer this (or any) service for anyone under 18 years of age. It is safe and there are places minors can get it done, I just personally do not feel comfortable doing it.
-Tooth Gems are designed to bond without any damage to your tooth and can be easily removed by a dentist. The application is very similar to placing an orthodontic bracket (braces) on a tooth. There is no drilling involved and the procedure is completely painless.
-Tooth Jewels must be placed on a real and flat tooth. If you have a tooth that is a false, crowned, or capped the gem will not adhere to the false tooth. The gem must be strategically placed on the tooth, so some design ideas may not be recommended for your specific teeth.
-The application takes no more than 20 minutes. The appointment is set for an hour which gives us plenty of time to talk about your design ideas, aftercare, answering any questions, and ideally will not fill up the entire hour.
-The Crystals are small in diameter. Initially, something on your tooth will feel different, but a few days after the application you will get used to the new feeling.
-The gem will last anywhere between 3 months and 3 years. I guarantee the first 3 months and if it should come off in that time frame I will replace it for free. The time it lasts really depends on how well you care for it. This is 100% reversible. If you would like to remove it, it can be removed by your dentist. The tooth will be polished to remove any remaining bonding material.
-When properly placed on a natural tooth, the tooth jewelry will not damage or harm your tooth
-The presence of the tooth crystal will not affect your dental hygiene. However, it is recommended not to use an electric tooth brush for the first 24 hours after the jewel has been attached. I recommend not using charcoal toothpaste as well.
-If you somehow swallow it, the crystals have no sharp edges. It will basically come out “the natural way.”
-You can, and should still have your teeth cleaned by a dental professional as you normally do. Tooth jewelry will not cause a problem for the hygienist cleaning your teeth. The area underneath the jewel is sealed like a filling and will not let bacteria in. The hygienist can easily polish around the jewel.
-Do not touch or play with the crystal with your tongue or finger. You may feel the crystal inside your lips for the first few days but should get used to it after that.
-Do not eat or chew gum for one hour after the Tooth Jewel is placed.
-When you eat for the next 12 hours, softer food is better.
-You can drink and smoke immediately after the Tooth Jewel is placed.
-Do not brush your teeth within 12 hours after the Tooth Jewel is placed.
-Brush and floss your teeth before the appointment.
-if you search for tooth gems/crystals/tooth bling in the area you will find VERY few people offering this service, nobody else doing mobile services, and nobody with pricing like mine. Every place I have been able to find is closer to the hundred dollar range. I am charging what I think is fair and that may change as time goes on but for now you definitely will not find anywhere close to as good of a deal.
-This is currently a cash only service and price varies based on design. In general I charge $12 per gem. 3/$30. I do not charge a travel fee for clients who are also getting a spray tan but if bling is the only service you would like I do charge for mileage as this is a low cost service.
-The cost of this service is based on standard swarovski crystals but I am able to order 24k gold as well as diamonds. We would need to discuss details and obviously the price would increase accordingly. Any other questions please feel free to ask.
